AMSA Convention: Registration 23rd March!

Convention_Poster

WAMSSunists unite! It's that time of year again...

The 51st AMSA National Convention is set to explode in Hobart from the 4th to the 11th of July, 2010. Delegates will be staying ON SITE at the 2004 host venue, Wrest Point Hotel and Casino. Located riverside; Wrest Point is an iconic Tasmanian landmark and has formed an integral part of Hobart High Society for the past 70 years. It has over 10 bars and restaurants onsite with majestic views of the River Derwent and Mt Wellington.

The academic program is already taking shape, with the speaker list bigger than a 10ft tall inflatable dinosaur; while the social team are busy working on the most ourageous parties you will ever attend! It is sure to expand horizons, inspire innovation and spark debate as the 51st Annual AMSA National Convention, Hobart 2010 poses a question to all Australian and New Zealand medical students...will you answer the call?

For all information (including the new promo video), visit http://convention2010.amsa.org.au/ or join the Facebook group "WAMSS @ AMSA Convention 2010"

REGISTRATION: 23rd March at 8pm Perth Time (be online or miss out!)

Asian Medical Students' Association: Two Conferences!

The Asian Medical Students' Association (AsMSA), in partnership with AMSA (Australian Medical Students' Association) is proud to present two conference opportunities for Australian Medical Students.

1.International Conference for Australasian Medical Students, held in Jakarta in 2010.

The theme for the 31st AMSC is “Geriatrics: Holistic Approaches for Palliative Care”. A topic that is generally
overlooked by many medical schools and students. The AMSC will explore the issues surrounding the topic, via
lectures, guest speakers and workshops in an effort to set new trends in the region and highlighting the
significance that geriatric health plays on the quality of life.

Despite the dates in the attached PDF, the application closing date is the 21st March.

2. The Silhouette 2010 Global Medical Students' Convention

This unique event will be held from the 23rd to 25th May in Indore, India. This flagship annual convention of the IMSA is a purely student led academic event and will focus on burning health issues including HIV/AIDS and Child Trafficking in India and a lot more. The event promises to be one of gargantuan proportions, with over 500 medical students and interns who represent one of the most motivated of India's next generation. See PDF for registration details.

NRLDS - Applications Close this FRIDAY 12th March!!

Are you a leader? Or are you interested in improving your leadership skills?  Well the Australian Medical Students' Association in conjunction with the National Rural Health Students' Network (NRHSN) are teaming up to bring to you the inaugural National Rural Leadership Development Seminar!  This Seminar will be held in Wollongong over 8-10 April, and will see over 100 handpicked medical, allied health and nursing students from across the country come together to gain professional development in leadership skills, specific to rural and remote practice. The NRLDS is designed to be an interactive "hands-on" experience for delegates where they will be able to gain additional skills to further them as professionals.

This event will include keynote speakers, workshops and open floor sessions that will allow delegates to discuss particular issues current within rural, remote and Indigenous health in Australia. This event will also see the first student-run rural health roundtable, where delegates as well as invited professionals in the field of rural health can come together to address rural health workforce issues.

For further information about this event, please visit www.amsa.org.au and follow the links through the Events menu.

Hurry, applications close Friday 12th March!
Cheers,
The NRLDS Committee
