For over sixty years, WAMSS has existed for medical students, and run by medical students. As a completely representative autonomous organisation, WAMSS has always focused on ensuring that the university experience for medical students is the best that it can be.
what we do
WAMSS organises a huge range of events and opportunities, to support and provide for the social, sporting, cultural, community and educational aspects of student life. From our social functions - the Medical Dinner, River Cruise, Allied Health and many more - to our sporting events and Lecture Series, WAMSS has always provided for the community of medical students at UWA.
representation
WAMSS also represents students at a number of levels, including within the Department of Health, medical industrial bodies such as the Australian Medical Association, and most importantly, the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. A lot of "behind the scenes" work goes into ensuring that educational resources are used effectively and properly. WAMSS also attends to workforce issues, such as increased medical student numbers, in the interest of our members beyond their graduation. None of this would be possible without your support.
member benefits
By supporting WAMSS financially, you are ensuring that WAMSS can continue to provide all of these services to students, and improving them into the future. Being a financial member also entitles you to discounted tickets to all WAMSS events, heavily subsidised food and drinks, heavily discounted textbooks at the WAMSS-AMA bookshop, and much more.
