Staphylococcus Aureus Investigational Vaccine Trial - Are you interested?
The Vaccine Trials Group (VTG), Telethon Institute for Child Health Research are currently trialling an investigational vaccine against a bacterium called Staphylococcus Aureus.
Healthy adults between 18 to 24 years and between 50 to 85 years, are needed for the research project, undertaken by the Vaccine Trials Group at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research and Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.
Study leader, Dr Peter Richmond, said there is no vaccine currently available against this potentially serious infection, and that there is a need to develop a vaccine to help prevent disease caused by staph. Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria is a leading cause of human disease, particularly in healthcare settings and can cause serious infections and extended stays in hospital for those affected.
This is a Phase 1 study that is being trialled across 5 sites in Australia, including Vaccine Trials Group.
