Parking at SCGH

Students Fined in Visitor Parking

The QEII Medical Centre Trust recently invited WAMSS to a meeting regarding the parking crisis on the QEII campus. They have informed us that unfortunately students are NOT permitted to park in visitor parking on the campus. Any students found to be parking in visitor parking will be fined $40. They encourage students to seek alternative methods of transport as suggested in the attached guide, cycle racks and showers are available for use.

Students who are required to be at the hospital outside of the hours of 7AM-6.30PM can apply for access to staff parking with the form at this address for a rate of ~$1.50 per day of use. Students with extreme circumstances can apply for access to staff parking at QEII or at Graylands (with access to free shuttle bus) and be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Currently distance is not included as a criteria (ie. even Charlies staff who live far away don't necessarily get staff permits).

We know that currently parking anywhere around Charlies is quite difficult and that public transport is not always the ideal option for some people, but unfortunately there's very little anyone can do. And this is going to get even worse once construction gets underway. The UWA-

controlled permit parking and ticketed parking is still an option but the spaces are very limited and ticket parking costs money.
