Bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment is unfortunately commonly experienced by medical students, but it is never acceptable.
WAMSS and the Medical School collaborated to produce a resource for students about bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment. This was launched in 2019 and is available on LMS >>> MD Community >>> Bullying and harassment resource.
Why isn't it here? Why do I have to go on LMS?
The resource is updated in response to student feedback. Having one place to find the resource means you can be sure it is the most up to date version. Do take a look though, if not for yourself then to be able to help your friends!
What's in the resource?
It goes through what is bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment, sources of support, reporting pathways available and also frequently asked questions. It's a comprehensive document - it's long, but you don't have to read it all. You should be able to find the answers to whatever question you have.
I have more questions.
About your personal experience? Your Sub-Dean is the best person to talk with.
Feedback about the system? Jacquie Frayne (Year 2 Sub-Dean) or the Vice-President Internal are the best people to talk with. There is also an anonymous form available on the LMS page to give feedback.
