Alan Charters Seminar 2020

The Alan Charters Prize was established in 1998 and named in honour of Dr Alan Charters (1903-1996) who practiced and taught medicine in East Africa and Western Australia, with a lifelong special interest in tropical medicine and parasitology. He is fondly remembered by generations of Western Australian medical students whom he taught through his long career, continuing to do so even into his nineties.

Three finalists have been chosen and asked to create a video of their experience. Judges will be looking for a presenter who demonstrates an understanding of the social and public health issues beyond the strictly ‘medical’; who presents in a thought-provoking, insightful, illuminating, enthusiastic and interesting way. The winner will be announced at the event on Wednesday 10th June. Click here for more details!

WAMSS Elective Photography Competition 2020

The WAMSS Elective Photography Competition is a student- led initiative designed to give final year medical students an opportunity to share with the wider community their experience whilst on an elective placement. The aim of the Competition is to promote the work of UWA medical students, who seek out unique learning opportunities throughout the globe and act as ambassadors for UWA and Australia. In addition, it allows students to display artistic talent and to highlight important global health and sociocultural issues encountered on their placement.
