So we all agree LMS is annoying. The most annoying aspect of it is having to scroll around just to find your units. The following are some instructions to create a shortcut box that provides links to all your units right at the top of the page.
This is the end result:
Step 1: On the top right there is an option to "customise this page." Click it.
Step 2:
A new block will be created. A block is an element that holds content, e.g. there are blocks on the left and right side, these have 'Site News', 'Calendars' etc. There is a block located in the centre too - this one is titled 'Unit Overview', it contains all of your LMS units. What you're actually looking for is a newly created block, it may be named 'HTML block' or something different. It may even be blank. You can see my previously created one in the picture below. Once you've found it, click the gear icon to edit it.
Step 3: Doing so will bring you to a new page. You can type in a title for the Block at the top. You may also select it's location by clicking on 'Where this block appears' at the bottom (I recommend choosing the centre). When ready, click on the HTML icon shown.
Step 4: Here is where you can enter the html code. You can paste the below code in if in 4th or 5th year (2014). Otherwise, there is blank template code which you may edit.
4th years: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=EXdBT5pv
5th years: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=WBXVe65F
Template code: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=pcQzcPcu
Once done, click Update in the bottom left.
Step 5: This will take you back to your LMS. If your block is not located at the top, you can drag it into position. Once done, click on the Stop Customising this Page. Very important. And presto, you're done!
All the best,
Kiran
